Family:  Stichaeidae (Pricklebacks), subfamily: Alectriinae
Max. size:  10 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: southern Kuril Islands, Aniva Bay, Japan from Hokkaido to northern Honshu, Japan Sea from Tatar Strait to Korean Peninsula; Yellow Sea at Chefoo and Gulf of Pohai.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 55-59; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 39-41; Vertebrae: 60-64
Biology:  Found in tide pools of rocky shores, among rocks and seaweed beds in bays (Ref. 43239). Oviparous, eggs are guarded by the female parent (Ref. 58332).
