Family:  Arhynchobatidae (Softnose skates)
Max. size:  58.2 cm WD (male/unsexed); 59 cm WD (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 600 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Sea of Okhotsk around eastern Hokkaido, Japan.
Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished from its congeners in Bathyraja in having a dark greyish brown color on both sides of the body; its clasper rather short with a shallow cleft; distance between extremity of pseudosiphon and tip of clasper is wide (Ref. 75535).
Biology:  Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
