Max. size:  4.41 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 5-5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: anterior portion of the preopercle distinctively narrow and long and parurohyal foramen large, rudimentary or lacking; 14-16 dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays; 28-31 interopercular odontodes; 21-24 premaxillary teeth, and 23-25 dentary teeth; medial margin of the autopalatine nearly straight to slightly convex; sesamoid supraorbital without a lateral projection; anterior portion of the mesethmoid just posterior to cornu base relatively narrow; dorsal process of the opercle stick-shaped; and posterior process of the parurohyal shorter than half length of the parurohyal lateral process; and S4 pore placed more posteriorly, nearer S6 pore than S3 pore (Ref 138050)
