Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal soft rays: 17-21. Diagnosis: single nostril on each side of snout; mouth opening at level of upper border of eye; short gill rakers on 1st branchial arch; D:III,7; A:III,14-18; P:11-12; V:8 (Ref. 2940, 81282).
Description: scale formula: 5.5/36-38/2.5;0.5-1;12; 0.5-1 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin base (Ref. 2940, 81282).
Coloration: silvery body, back slightly yellow; fins colorless; preserved specimens have a narrow, longitudinal band, particularly well visible on posterior part of body (Ref. 2940, 81282). |

Associated with vegetation fringing flowing water. Feeds mainly on terrestrial insects (Ref. 6160) and seeds at the surface (Ref. 28714). |
