Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 30 - 80 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: restricted to the northern Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea. Possibly threatened (Ref. 27438)
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-13
Biology:  Adults inhabit steep outer reef slopes. Feed on zooplankton above the bottom (Ref. 10375). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
