Max. size:  6.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and the Suez Canal to Port Said, Egypt (immigrant from Red Sea).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10
Biology:  Occurs in shallow waters, near holes and crevices, on sand and mud flats, with algae, and on stony areas in salinities ranging from 30-50 ppt (Ref. 4696).
