Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Colorado and San Antonio River drainages in Texas, USA.
Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 8-8. Dionda nigrotaenita is similar to its congener D. serena but differs from it by having eye shorter than snout and 8 anal rays (Ref. 86798).
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky pools, sometimes runs, of headwaters, creeks, and small rivers. Usually occurs among filamentous algae (Ref. 86798). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
