Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  4.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: upper reaches of the Okavango, Kafue (Ref. 7248), Zambezi and Quanza (Ref. 11970, 52193, 120641). Also in the Kunene (Ref. 120641). In the Congo basin present in the Lake Mweru system (Ref. 26709, 42540) up to the Bangweulu-Chambesi area (Ref. 42135, 95585), in the upper Lualaba and in the upper Kasai (Ref. 41590) and Kwilu systems (Ref. 11970).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-6. Description: A single pair of barbels (Ref. 122753).
