Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  8.4 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 3 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: found only in Holston and Nolichucky River systems (Tennessee River drainage) in western Virginia, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in fast, deep rocky riffles in small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).
