Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  4.681 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Restricted to tributaries of the upper Black River system in Missouri from its headwaters in Reynolds and from countries to where the Black River flows into the Mississippi River alluvial plain near Poplar Bluff, Butler County.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal soft rays: 6-7
Biology:  Adults inhabit rivers and creeks (Ref. 27671). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 December 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
