Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
Max. size:  14.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 23-26; Anal soft rays: 34-40. Body elongate and very slender, with long tapering, protrusible snout. Moderately long chin barbel (Ref. 37039).
