Family:  Pangasiidae (Shark catfishes)
Max. size:  70 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong and Chao Phraya basins; also from Sumatra, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 37-40
Biology:  Occurs in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). The stomachs of the specimens examined were more or less filled with mollusks, usually bivalves (Ref. 7432). Enters flooded forest (Ref. 9497). Migrates upstream when water levels begin to rise at the beginning of the flood season and moves downstream as water clears at the end of the flood season. Marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
