Family:  Eleotridae (Bully sleepers)
Max. size:  8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Africa: Comoros, La RĂ©union, Madagascar (Ref. 97791). Asia: Reported from Palau (Ref. 6371), the Ryukyu Islands (Ref. 559), the Philippines (Ref. 55103), Indonesia, New-Guinea, New Caledonia, the Vanuatu, Fiji and Samoa (Ref. 97791).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-9
Biology:  Favors shallow vegetated margins of freshwater streams entering estuaries. Feeds on mosquito and other insect larvae. Threatened by coastal development and destruction of habitat through farming, industrial and urban activities (Ref. 7248).
