Family:  Rivulidae (Rivulines), subfamily: Cynolebiinae
Max. size:  3.3 cm SL (male/unsexed); 2.4 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Rio Preto, rio São Francisco basin in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-28; Anal soft rays: 16-21; Vertebrae: 25-25. Description: Dorsal-fin rays 27-28 in males, 16 in females; anal-fin rays 20-21 in males, 16-18 in females (Ref. 111470).
Biology:  Occurs in a typical annual pool with many aquatic plants of the genera Echinodorus, Utricularia, and Nymphaea. The pool has about 800 m length and 300 m width, 1.60 m maximum depth, substrate consisting of clay, and transparent and slightly dark color water. This was the only fish species encountered at the pool, which was shared with many aquatic insect larvae and several tadpole species (Ref. 111470).
