Family:  Stevardiidae (Stevardiids), subfamily: Diapominae
Max. size:  3.54 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal soft rays: 17-19; Vertebrae: 35-35. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: presence of only conical to tricuspid teeth in the inner pre maxillary row and dentary teeth; short maxilla, not exceeding the anterior margin of the orbit in a vertical plane; presence of a black blotch at the base of caudal fin and i,6,i pelvic-fin rays; 6 scales between dorsal-fin origin and lateral line; 13-14 circumpeduncular scales; and short snout(19.6%-22.5%LH) (Ref. 137788).
Biology:  This species inhabits a moderately fast-flowing stream, 13 meters wide and 1-3 meters deep, with a substrate predominantly composed of rocks, gravel and sand (Ref. 137788).
