Family:  Procatopodidae (African lampeyes), subfamily: Procatopodinae
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 8 - 8.5; dH range: 12, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the shore regions of Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 27139). Introduced in Lake Kivu (Ref. 107916).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky shores, but also found offshore (4967). 12 cm max TL (Ref. 31267). Not a seasonal killifish (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 22 February 2025 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
