Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Triglinae
Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 230 - 335 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: coast of east Africa southward to Mozambique and Natal, South Africa (Ref. 4316). New collections provide northward distributional extension to the Horn of Africa (Somalia), and along the southwestern coast of Madagascar (Ref. 9204).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-17
Biology:  Found in the continental and insular shelves on sandy or muddy bottoms.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 June 2017 Ref. (130435)
