Max. size:  15.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: dark vertical bars encircling the body in adults; 9 branched pelvic-fin rays; 3 unicuspid teeth on the premaxillary and four on the dentary; and 12 scales around the caudal peduncle (Ref. 138117)
Biology:  This species inhabits clear water stream, 3-5 meters wide, 0.3-1.8 meters deep, with substrate composed of rocks, pebbles, and sand bottoms, and bordered by riparian vegetation (Ref. 138117).
