Family:  Liopropomatidae (Painted basslets), subfamily: Liopropomatinae
Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 34 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Indonesia, Johnston island and the Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by pale reddish grey color with four dark brown to red stripes on side, converging onto posterior portion of head; anterior enlarged pore and medial to posterior nostril; pelvic fins 1.8-2.1 in head length (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Specimens collected from coral reefs at depths of less than 6 to 33.5 m (Ref. 6180). Benthic (Ref. 58302). Solitary and cryptic (Ref 90102).
