Family:  Liopropomatidae (Painted basslets), subfamily: Liopropomatinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 30 - 60 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Bermuda, southern Florida (USA) and Bahamas to northern South America.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12. Snout relatively long; yellow band from tip of snout and chin to eye.
Biology:  A solitary species (Ref. 26340) inhabiting rocky and reef areas.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
