Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic Slope from Chowan River system in Virginia to Cape Fear River drainage in North Carolina, USA; upper New River drainage (Ohio River basin) in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky pools near riffles in clear creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous (Ref. 205), probably nest spawners like congeners. Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
