Family:  Mugilidae (Mullets)
Max. size:  45 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 300 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Atlantic: Morocco to Guinea-Bissau (Ref. 26999). Reported in Togo (Ref. 86641).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occur in large schools, sometimes in deep offshore waters (Ref. 2804). Oviparous, eggs are pelagic and non-adhesive (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 05 July 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  reports of ciguatera poisoning
