Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.30000019073486; dH range: 5 - 30
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to the south of Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:  Description: predatory looking, elongate species; relatively longer jaws, more teeth and more longitudinal line scales than most congenerics; teeth unicuspid (Ref. 55954). Coloration: oblique stripe does not extend to the caudal peduncle; caudal spot clearly visible in some specimens (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Has been observed over sand. Preys on small fish, mainly cichlids, and on invertebrates collected from the sand (Ref. 5595).
