Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic Slope drainages from Hudson River in New York to Cape Fear River in North Carolina, USA; one record each from Seneca Lake (Lake Ontario drainage) in New York, and Yadkin River system in North Carolina, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in runs and flowing pools over sand, gravel or rubble, of creeks and medium to large rivers. Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 March 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
