Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  9.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 1 m
Distribution:  North America: Ohio River basin from Pennsylvania to Indiana and south to Tennessee River drainage in Georgia and Alabama, USA. One record from Maumee River (in Lake Erie drainage) in Ohio, USA; population now extirpated.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit clear, gravel-bottomed, flowing pools and runs of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 30 July 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
