Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobionellinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Natal, South Africa to Indonesia and the western Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 10-11. Brownish with dark blotches along back; faint blotches on mid side, the last on caudal base; fins usually spotted (Ref. 2798).
Biology:  Adults occur inshore (Ref. 4343). They are found in muddy estuaries and coastal bays (Ref. 4833). They enter lower reaches of freshwater streams (Ref. 2847) and lagoons (Ref. 4343). Adults feed on small fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates (Ref. 12693).
