| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 97-97; Anal soft rays: 79-79; Vertebrae: 101-101. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: six branchiostegal rays; lachrymal enlarged and partly overlapping upper jaw; single posterior nasal pore; two postorbital pores (positions one and four); 6+0 infraorbital pores; lateral line double; 97 dorsal-fin rays; 79 anal-fin rays; 17 pectoral-fin rays; 23 abdominal and 101 total vertebrae; body scaled toward gill opening; presence of scales on abdomen; pectoral axil and in predorsal area; absence of pyloric caeca; presence of pseudobranch; and head and body dark, lacking pattern, mouth cavity pale-coloured (Ref. 138161) | |||
