Family:  Phreatobiidae (Cistern catfishes)
Max. size:  5.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  South America: phreatic environments in the Marajó Island, mouth of the Amazon River, Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in areas supplied with ground water all the way to the mouth of rivers (Ref. 36914).
