Head and body slightly compressed; body depth contained 2.9 to 3.2 times or more in standard length; eyes moderately large, their length less than or equal to snout length; inter-orbital space wide, generally half the eye diameter; tip of maxilla not reaching posterior rim of the eye; third dorsal spine prolonged, its tip curved slightly forward; pectoral fin with 18 rays; small ctenoid scales; body uniformly reddish with small, irregular, brown or olive green spots on the dorsal region (Ref. 55763). |
