Max. size:  4.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 7 cm (female)
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.80000019073486 - 7.19999980926514; dH range: 5 - 15
Distribution:  Central America: Rio Grijalva system to the lower Rio Usumacinta basin in Chiapas, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit rapidly flowing, preferably torrential waters. Usually found in shallow waters about 20 to 50 cm deep. They feed on insects. They live along with livebearing Xiphophorus alvarezi only in the Rio Palenque (Ref. 26130). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
