Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 26-26. Rear half of orbit with fleshy papillae; body depth 3.6-3.85 in SL; dorsal fin of male greatly elevated, the longest spine about equal to head length, 29.3% SL; fresh coloration of male magenta with obscure dark brown bars on dorsal two-thirds of body; a dark orange-red band, edged in lavender, from front of snout through eye to upper half of pectoral-fin base; dorsal fin light red; pelvic fins very dark magenta (Ref. 45336). |
