Family:  Danionidae (Danios), subfamily: Rasborinae
Max. size:  7.22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Sri Lanka (Nilwala, Gin, and Kalu drainages).
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 36-36. Rasbora wilpita is distinguished from all congeners from peninsular India and Sri Lana by the combination of the following characters: a prominent symphysial knob on lower jaw; a -conspicuous maxillary lateral process; head depth 54-62% HL; and body depth 24.7-29.3% SL (Ref. 84057).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow, slow-flowing, heavily shaded streams (Ref. 6028).
