| Diagnosis: | This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: a slightly subinferior mouth; a sharp predorsal keel; body strongly compressed laterally; lateral series with 5-8 pored and 26-32 unpored scales; 5-7 scale rows between lateral series and dorsal-fin origin; 3-4 scale rows between lateral series and anal-fin origin; body width at dorsal-fin origin 9-13% SL; and postorbital length 47-66% HL (Ref. 138279). | |||
