Family:  Terapontidae (Grunters or tigerperches)
Max. size:  25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Japan to the Philippines.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in inshore waters, often brackish water. Feed on invertebrates and fishes (Ref. 2118). Eggs are guarded and fanned by the male parent (Ref. 205). Commercially cultured in Japan. Individuals produce sound (Ref. 9137).
