Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  5.33 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Vietnam, Hong Kong, eastern Philippines, Taiwan, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Distinguished by its color pattern, dentition, gill raker counts (18-20 developed gill rakers (Ref. 54391) and flanges on the sixth and seventh ribs (Ref. 94127).
Biology:  Observed from shallow coastal reef crests, among corals and in caves, often in less than 10 m depth (Ref. 126002).
