Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 9 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 6 - 40 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Skagerrak to Madeira, including the Salvage Islands and Canary Islands. Also in the Mediterranean.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Cryptobenthic, found inshore, in or near crevices in vertical rock faces, rarely in deep lower tide-pools, to a depth of 40 m, usually between 6 to 12 m. Feed on crustaceans (copepods, amphipods, decapods), polychaetes, gastropods, algae (Ref. 4696). Spawns up to 12,000 eggs (Ref. 35388).
