Family:  Gerreidae (Mojarras)
Max. size:  23 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Bermuda, North Carolina (USA) and northern Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Silvery, the back broadly mottled (Ref. 13442).
Biology:  Adults prefer sandy shores. Young are more widespread.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 March 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
