| Locality | Solomon Sea, east of Normanby Island. |
| Distribution | Global: Solomon Sea |
| Quote | Possibly a synonym of Pelontrus takasei Gill et al., 2016. The holotype of Plectranthias normanby has an identical body coloration, and consistent morphological features with Pelontrus takasei. Athough Pl. normanby was originally diagnosed by having 12 dorsal-fin spines, a re?examination of the holotype reveals it actually possesses 10 true dorsal?fin spines and 15 broken soft rays. The authors, therefore, consider Pl. normanby a junior synonym of Pe. takasei. |
