Introduced elsewhere. Considered conspecific with Coregonus autumnalis and Coregonus autumnalis pollan based on electrophoresis studies (Ref. 7506). Belongs to Coregonus artedi complex.

Utilized fresh, smoked, and frozen; can be steamed, fried, broiled, boiled, microwaved, and baked (Ref. 9988).
