背棘 (總數) : 0; 背的軟條 (總數) : 18 - 19; 臀棘: 0; 臀鰭軟條: 27 - 28. Petrocephalus congicus differs from P. haullevillii by a rosette of electroreceptor organs above the eye, which is absent in P. haullevillii (Ref. 91771).
