Taxonomic Remarks
This species is known only from the types. It appears to be closely related to C. compta. Both have slender elongate bodies, similar scale counts, size, and color patterns. The dorsal fin is set back on the body almost over the anal fin. Eschmeyer, 1998:1761; Vari and Howe, 1991:15; Géry, 1977:147.

This species is distinguished from all its congeners by the following characters: with an interrupted longitudinal series of dark scales on the body of males (vs. presence of a continuous longitudinal series of dark scales forming a longitudinal band or absence of any longitudinal color pattern); females differ, except those of C. compta, by having a small dark spot at the base of the upper caudal-fin lobe (vs. absence); females also have a brownish longitudinal band on body (vs. absence) (Ref. 137764)
