Espinhos dorsais (total) : 8 - 9; Raios dorsais moles (total) : 11 - 12; Espinhos anais: 0; Raios anais moles: 11. Upper preopercular spine long, nearly reaching to near margin of opercle. Preorbital spine slight, often lacking. Infraorbital ridge usually smooth over anterior 1/4 of eye. Suborbital ridge bearing 3-4 spines behind eye. Interopercular flap absent. Iris lappet simple.
Inhabits the continental shelf off western and northern Australia (Ref. 9790). Benthic (Ref. 75154).
