Etymology: Oloplotosus: Greek, holos = full + Greek, plotos = swimming (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Marie Louise Clémence, Baroness van Nagell (1885–1981), was the wife of the Dutch explorer Hendrikus Albertus Lorentz (1871–1944). He collected the holotype in New Guinea. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
