Pectoral fins long, reaching to above origin of anal fin. Pelvic fins long, reaching to or almost to level of anus. Color: Reddish throughout with a silvery lateral stripe.

Benthic on sand or mud bottoms in offshore waters (Ref. 30573). Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates.
