Etymology: Synchiropus: Greek, syn, symphysis = grown together + Greek, cheir = hand + Greek, pous = foot (Ref. 45335); kinmeiensis: Named after the Kinmei Seamount, its type locality.

The third membrane of first dorsal fin with a large dark mark; posterior tip of preopercular spine straight and not curved upward; lower half of caudal fin rays elongate and filamentous in male (Ref. 37208).
