Etymology: Allotoca: Greek, allos = other + Greek, tokos = birth (Ref. 45335). The transliterated Latin terminal part of the compound name ('tocus') was changed to 'toca', thus the genus is feminine (Ref. 35111); zacapuensis: Named for its known distribution, the basin Lagoon de Zacapu (Ref. 42981).

Adults are found in turbid water, over mud bottoms (Ref. 42981). They hide under vegetation (Ref. 42981). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
