Etymology: Chlidichthys: Greek, chlidos, -eos, ous = collar, bracelet, adornment + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335); foudioides: Named for the predominantly red- or yellow-headed Mascarene weaver bird genus Foudias (fodies) and the Greek stem 'oides' alluding to the red markings
on the head (Ref. 57771).
