It has two pairs of small barbels. The dorsal fin contains iii-iv simple rays and 8 branched rays, with the last unbranched ray being stiff and serrated, featuring 25-33 serrations. The pectoral fin has 15-16 branched rays, while the anal fin is long, with 25-27 branched rays. There are 29-32 predorsal scales, a complete lateral line with 59-71 scales, and an oblique black streak on the anterior body just behind the opercle, running parallel to the upper opercular margin.
