Etymology: Hyporhamphus: Greek, hypo = under + Greek, rhamphos = beak, bill (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Monsieur Robert is said in the original text to have been one of the collectors of the fish along with Monsieur Poiteau – probably the French botanist Pierre-Antoine Poiteau (1766– 1854) – in Cayenne, French Guiana. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
