Etymology: Pomatoschistus: Greek, poma, -atos = cover, operculum + Greek, schistos = divided (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Enrico Tortonése (1911–1987) was an Italian ichthyologist and specialist in echinoderms. He was a Professor at the Genoa Museum of Natural History. Capapé frequently cites Tortonése’s work on Mediterranean sharks and rays. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
